Nashville, Tenn. Sept. 7, 2011… Critically acclaimed Gungor recently announced a pair of limited events in support of their newest album Ghosts Upon the Earth due September 20. The “Ghosts Upon the Earth Events” will take place at Atlanta’s famed Center Stage on September 21 and at Nashville’s Trevecca University on September 23. Though the group will be touring over 30 major markets this fall as a part of “The 7 Tour,” the “Ghosts Upon the Earth Events” will showcase their full, innovative performance with additional players.
“It’s actually quite an undertaking, and there will be a lot of us on the stage,” explains Michael Gungor in a statement to fans. “We also are working on some other little surprises and guest appearances in the night as well. We have been planning them for quite awhile now, and we think they are going to be pretty special experiences.” For ticket and time information, visit http://gungormusic.com/.
Appearing at the events and in Gungor’s most recent performance video for “When Death Dies” is acclaimed beatboxing cellist Kevin Olusola. Olusola has studied at Yale and has been featured on CBS and “The Today Show.” In addition to playing the cello, Olusola is also a saxophonist and composer. Already being heralded by Relevant Magazine as a possible early pick for album of the year, Gungor’s Ghosts Upon the Earth will debut on September 20. Gungor released the following EPK giving an early look into the record, http://youtu.be/zGtvtLDicwA?a. The follow-up to the critically acclaimed Beautiful Things project was composed as a full narrative celebrating both the beauty and frailty of existence.
Produced by the group’s namesake, Michael Gungor, Ghosts Upon the Earth was primarily written by Michael and his wife Lisa who is also a featured vocalist in this musical collective. Recorded in numerous locations, including the Gungor’s home, the album also includes seventeen players, four additional vocalists, a six-person string ensemble and a boy’s choir. Inspiration for the album was orchestrated from Gungor’s weeklong meditation in Assisi where he was inspired by the Saint’s view of the world, as well as from the birth of their daughter last year.
Gungor will take to the road with fellow GRAMMY ® nominees David Crowder*Band alongside John Mark McMillan and Chris August for “The 7 Tour” later this fall. For the latest tour information, visit www.GungorMusic.com.
